My journey into yoga has transformed the way that I perceive and live my life, but it began as nothing more than a physical practice of mastering poses and building strength. As a lifelong runner and athlete, I became hooked on the physical practice of yoga when I realized how it transformed my running and athletic performance. As tends to happen in life, a series of events transpired that pushed me to my edge. It was at this point that my opportunity to attend Yoga Teacher Training presented itself. I received my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training from Body & Soul in Dubuque, IA and I am registered through Yoga Alliance. I believe its important to continuously learn and grow and I do so by attending workshops, assisting in yoga teacher trainings, and currently, I am taking Sadie Nardini's online Total Transformation Yoga Teacher Training.
Throughout my training, and as I've continued a daily yoga practice, I've come to find that yoga philosophy and the mind-body-spirit balance that the combined facets of yoga offer have become integral to how I live my life. Yoga has brought me happiness and a sense of peace and well being, and it was because of this that I started #MyYearOfYoga as a means of sharing my own experience with anyone out there who would be inspired by it.
In addition to practicing and writing about yoga, I also teach group classes and private lessons, workshops, and work with athletes at the collegiate level to help them integrate yoga into their regular training.
Giving and sharing a yoga practice with others is what I look forward to each day.
