Day 238 of #myyearofyoga :
At the end of my practice this morning I had a vision of a waterfall, but instead of being clear and blue it was muddled and brown. The muddiness, I realized, was symbolic of stress, anxiety, worry, and the fears that run through us every day. I found myself thinking about how I would make that waterfall blue and clear again. The answer was to filter and clean the water at the waterfall's source. This is what yoga is all about – discovering, cleansing, and purifying our source. It's about getting in touch with our innermost self and working first on the inside so that the outside, the waterfall that everyone around us sees, is pure, clear, and magnificent.
"If you get the inside right, the outside will fall into place." ~Eckhart Tolle

Day 237 of #MyYearOfYoga
Day 237 of #myyearofyoga :
"Whatever comes let it come. Whatever stays let it stay. Whatever goes let it go." -Erin McGuire
Life isn't perfect, except that it is. It has to be because it's happening. It's just our perception that makes it imperfect. Even the most tragic of situations are, in their own way, perfect. And when we can't see that, we must at least have faith that it's still all ok. I think that the more people who realize this, the more peace and the less turmoil there would be in the world. We would not be at war with ourselves and we would therefore have no reason to be at war with one another. If we could all just allow whatever comes to come, allow whatever stays to stay, and allow whatever goes to go, we would all find our inner peace within ourselves and in turn, with one another.

Day 31 of #MyYearOfYoga
Day 31 of #myyearofyoga :
Some people take yoga pictures in beautiful tropical places. I live in Iowa so I take yoga pics in the snow. I despise being cold but I love snow. And I'm amused by the irony of this particular Bird of Paradise. I suppose this is just another form of paradise. This afternoon's asana practice in front of the fireplace will also be an Iowan's winter version of tropical.

Day 20 of #MyYearOfYoga
Day 20 of #myyearofyoga :
5:15 a.m., Dancer pose in the beautiful freshly fallen snow. Because it just felt right. So happy to have gotten up early for an awesome vinyasa class! My favorite way to start the day! #vinyasa #dancerpose #yogainthesnow#Yoga #yogi #yogamama #yogaforlife#yogapractice #yogaeverydamnday#namaste #letitsnow #beauty#earlybirdyoga
Day 17 of #MyYearOfYoga
Day 17 of #myyearofyoga :
This week's practice has brought some amazing breakthroughs, both physically in my practice and also in my inner#awareness. Today, at the end of practice, while playing with #hanumanasana, I felt myself float right down onto my mat. A month ago, this is not a pose I would have thought possible for a loooong time! But this morning, something let go. Some#resistance that I've been holding onto released. It was nothing short of #blissful. And that letting go connected with my intentions the last few days of going with the flow and offering no resistance to what is. The connections that have been woven into my life in the past few days are truly miraculous. Even the lesson I started last night for next week's practice, revolving around the third eye chakra (our #chakra of#intuition and inner connectedness), related to the intention at today's practice:#connectivity. #Yoga never ceases to amaze me.

Day 14 of #MyYearOfYoga
Day 14 of #myyearofyoga :
I love making lists. They keep me organized and they empty my head of things I have to remember, making space for me to cultivate more important things like #patience and #calm. But sometimes those lists become distractions, reminding me of how much I need to do and claiming to be more important than whatever I might be doing in that moment. So, after today's 60 minute #vinyasa practice, I made a new list. One that will always take precedence:
Be patient
Be present
Practice kindness and compassion
Let go of what I can't control
Listen to my heart
Speak my truth
Remain calm
Breathe

Day 10 of #MyYearOfYoga
Day 10 of #myyearofyoga :
This journey through pregnancy has revolved around letting go - letting go of parts of my rigorous #vinyasa practice, letting go of poses that were once attainable, letting go of my beloved#inversion practice (I miss #headstand!). Today for fun, I thought I'd see if I could maneuver myself into #babycrow. It's a pose that I haven't attempted in awhile but I was inspired by all the posts I've seen of it lately. The #babybump obviously made it a lot more challenging and I couldn't get my face more than an inch off the floor today but it was fun to play. Letting go of things we love isn't easy but I thank Buddha for this reminder: "You only lose what you cling to." #lettinggo #buddha #yoga #yogi#yogamama #yogaforlife #yogapractice#yogainspiration #yogaeverydamnday#namaste #om
